Free gifts have long been a popular promotional strategy with a high return on investment. To provide greater flexibility in managing them, SHOPLINE now allows free gifts and regular products to be managed within the same interface in the Admin. In addition, free gifts with product variations are officially supported, enabling merchants to offer more choices and drive purchases.

1. Free gift settings
Step 1
In the SHOPLINE Admin, go to [Product & Categories] > [Products].
Step 2
Add or Edit a product. For more information on adding or editing products, please refer to the following articles.
Step 3
After entering the product page, click the [Settings] tab.
Step 4
Find the "Set as Free Gifts" toggle and click Add or Update to set this product as a free gift.
*Notes:
- Product sets are currently not supported to be set as free gifts.
- If the delivery/payment option has been excluded for the product, customers that are eligible for the free gift will also NOT be able to use the delivery/payment method.

To switch off the "Set as Free Gifts" toggle, please remove the free gift from the promotion campaign.
If you delete the product, no notifications will pop up, and promotion campaigns will fail to be applied.
2. Free gift management
Quick-filter free gifts
On the product list, click the "show: All" drop-down menu and select the "Free Gifts" option. For more information, please refer to:
Manage free gift inventory
Go to [Inventory Management] > [Inventory] and click the [Free Gift] tab. For more information, please refer to:

3. Apply promotions
The new version of free gift supports applying Promotions, Bundle Promotions, and member point redemption. The following content uses a Promotion campaign as an example. For more information, please refer to:

*Note: Product Subscription Promotions currently does not support free gifts with variations.
Step 1
In the SHOPLINE Admin, go to [Promotions & Reward] > [Promotions]. Then, refer to Promotions Step 1 - General Information to add a promotion.
Step 2
Refer to the Promotion setting steps, select the promotion type, and campaign conditions. Then, complete all settings and click Continue to Set Target Group .
*Note: This feature currently does not support specifying a variation for a free gift. For example, the Natural Essential Oil Soap has two sizes: large and small. You cannot specify "Natural Essential Oil Soap - small" as the free gift.
4. Storefront display
The new free gift feature supports free gifts with single/multiple variations. The following section outlines how product variations and their corresponding inventory levels will be presented on the storefront.
*Note: If you have enabled the "New shopping cart" feature, please refer to the section below.
- Single variation - Sufficient inventory
- Single variation - Insufficient inventory
- Multiple variations - Sufficient inventory
- Multiple variations - Insufficient inventory
i. Single variation - Sufficient inventory
When a free gift has only one variation and has sufficient in-stock inventory, it will be displayed in the shopping cart as below.
ii. Single variation - Insufficient inventory
When a free gift has only one variation and has zero or negative inventory, it will be displayed in the shopping cart as below.

A preorder hint will be displayed under the product name. The preorder amount will be displayed under the product quantity. |
| Insufficient inventory - Preorder NOT available | The inventory is insufficient and will not apply to the promotions. |
iii. Multiple variations - Sufficient inventory
When a free gift has multiple variations for selection and has sufficient in-stock inventory, the operation steps for the shopping cart are displayed as below.
Step 1
Click Select Variation and proceed to select the variations for the free gift.
Step 2
On the pop-up window, select the product variations and quantity according to the system instructions.
Step 3
Confirm the variation and quantity for the selected free gift. Click Reselect if any adjustment is needed. Once confirmed, proceed to checkout.
*Note: To reselect the variations, you must click the icon to delete the selected variations and quantities first.
iv. Multiple variations - Insufficient inventory
When a free gift has multiple variations for selection and has zero or negative inventory, the operation steps for the shopping cart are displayed as below.

Select the variation and quantity for the free gift, and a message will appear at the bottom of the window, stating "The purchase quantity includes both in-stock and preordered items". After closing the pop-up window, the in-stock and preorder quantities can be viewed in the shopping cart. |

Variations without inventory will be grayed out. Clicking on the variations will display a message stating "The gift you selected is out of stock". |

5. Storefront display (New shopping cart interface)

Step 1
Click Select variation and proceed to select the variations for the free gift.
Step 2
On the pop-up window, select the product variations and quantity according to the system instructions.
- If there are multiple free gifts, the system will prompt "x item(s) selected. Add y more to complete." based on the number of gifts to be selected.
Step 3
Confirm the variation and quantity for the selected free gift. Click Reselect variation if any adjustment is needed. Once confirmed, proceed to checkout.

- If you have not selected all free gift variations, a "x item(s) selected. Select y more." prompt will appear.
*Notes:
- To reselect the variations, you must click the
icon to delete the selected variations and quantities first.
- If you click "Proceed to checkout" without selecting all free gift variations, a red notification stating "Please select the gift variation before proceeding to checkout" will appear in the cart's free gift field.
iv. Multiple variations - Insufficient inventory
When a free gift has multiple variations for selection and has zero or negative inventory, the operation steps for the shopping cart are displayed as below.

After selecting the variation and quantity, you can view the in-stock and preorder quantities in the shopping cart. |

The following product settings are not applicable to the new free gift feature.
Regardless of whether the main product configured as a free gift is published on the storefront, it can still be applied to the promotion as long as the inventory is sufficient. Hidden Product Regardless of whether the main product is configured as a free gift or has its price hidden, the promotion can still be applied as long as the inventory is sufficient. Product Purchase Limit Settings Regardless of whether the main product configured as a free gift has a purchase quantity limit, the promotion can still be applied as long as the inventory is sufficient. Preset Product Available Time Regardless of whether the main product configured as a free gift is officially available, the promotion can still be applied as long as the inventory is sufficient.
