In this article, you'll find:
1. Feature introduction
Merchants can create different promotional campaigns as incentives to attract orders.
SHOPLINE's Free Gift feature enables you to set different free gift conditions (e.g.: Free gift with purchase over the required amount; free gift with purchase over required items; membership free gift, buy product A and get product B for free).
After you have finished setting up Free Gift conditions in the Admin, customers can receive a free gift once they fulfill the predefined criteria upon checkout. You can also check related free gift details on the Orders page, Stock Picking List, Packing Slip, Order Invoice, and Order Report.
**Remarks
- If free gift or associated promotion is unpublished, or the stock is not enough, customers will not be able to receive free gifts.
- When you are setting up a free gift promotion, please check that the number of times the promotion can be used must not exceed the quantity of the stock.
- Please do not set up the same condition (over... items/amount) in one promotion.
- The calculation of "Free Gift with Purchase over Required Amount/ Items" is as follows:
- Over Required Amount: Main Products + Add-on items subtotal after deducting other promotion discounts (excluding store credits)
- Over Required Items: Excludes the quantity of add-on items
- If you have set up more than one free gift promotion, more than one free gift can be given to customers in order at the same time.
- If you want to set up multiple tiers of free gifts and do not want to give customers multiple gifts at one time, please set up the rules in 1 promotion with multiple tiers.
2. Steps to set up
Step 1. Set up products as free gift
In the SHOPLINE Admin Panel, go to [Products and Categories] > [Free Gifts].
Click Add or Edit to set up the name, image, inventory, and other information of the free gift.
You can publish, unpublish or delete free gifts in the free gift list.
Step 2. Create a campaign
Go to [Promotions & Reward] > [Promotions]. Click Add to add a new promotion. Enter a promotion name.
The promotion name will appear on the checkout page under "Applied Promotion". If you have ticked the "Show promotion campaign information on product details page" box in [Promotions & Reward] > [Promotions & Campaigns] > [Promotion Settings], it will also appear on the Product detail page.
*Suggestion: For effective marketing, promotion names should be titled clearly and include the discount condition, type, and eligible customers. For example, "Free lip gloss for buying $300".
- You could input only one language.
- The Promotion Name is limited to 100 characters.
Step 3
Select "Free Gift" for "2. Set Benefit Type > Event Type".
Click Select to select the product for the Free Gift promotion at the pop-up window. You can see the image, name, SKU, and inventory of the selected free gift. The "Discount Summary" will automatically show your Free Gift promotion details.

Customers will be able to see the free gift(s) they will receive on the product list, the promotion list, and in their shopping carts.
Merchants can notify customers about the free gift promotion and corresponding rules on the product page. Alternatively, you can create a marketing page from Advanced Page builder.
* The following is a sequence diagram for the application of promotions. The promotions will be applied from top to bottom, except those related to gifts, which can be applied in a stack. As for the rest of the promotions, only one will be applied per row.
