Promotions Step 2 - Set Target Group

6. EC + SC + POS.png

You can offer store promotions targeting different customer groups. For instance, promotions can apply to all customers or members only. You can also limit the number of times a promotion can be used for each customer.

Promotions can target three different customer groups: All Customers, Members, and Specific Customer Tags. For Members and Specific Customer Tags, customers are required to log in before checkout. On the other hand, promotions that target All Customers do not require customers to log in to their accounts.

1. Check your plan

In SHOPLINE Admin, go to [Hello, OOO] > [My Subscription & Billing] to see details of your current plan and modules.

  1. There are Plans and Modules under the "Paid Subscription". Please first check if your store is using the e-Commerce, Social Commerce, or Retail POS plan. If so, you can skip to Step 2.

2. Setting "All Customers" as your target group

Step 1. Set target group

Selecting “All Customers” will also make the promotion available to both customers that have not logged in as store members.

*Note: Customers that have registered as store members but that fail to log in before checkout will be identified as normal guest checkout, and will only be eligible for "All Customers" promotions.

Step 2. Additional settings

  • In the “Additional settings” section, you can choose to either make the promotion "Unlimited" or "For first purchase only". If you select "First time purchase only", each customer can only enjoy this offer when they place an order for the first time.
    *Note:
    • If the customer has placed an order and the order status is "Opened, Confirmed, Completed", the first-time purchase discount will not be available, and "Cancelled" and deleted orders are exceptions.
    • The "First-time purchase only" function is only applicable to the Promotions module. Please contact our Online Merchant Success Team if you want to purchase this module.

  • If a customer checks out as a guest without logging in as a member, the system will check the email/phone number used during the second step of the checkout process to see if the customer qualifies for the promotion. If you want to set your promotion to be available to “All customers”, the system only supports this through the"Discount code" method to avoid customers that have not logged in being automatically applied the discount and fail to checkout.
*Tip: If a customer that has already made a purchase attempts to apply a "For first purchase only" code, then they will be
prompted to remove the coupon before they can complete the
    checkout process.

If you check the "Display coupon in member account" box for first purchase coupon, customers that have not yet made a purchase will be able to view the coupon code on your store's member center page. Customers that have already made a purchase will not be able to view the coupon code.
