⚠️ Before you begin, please note: This feature currently only supports merchants using the "Retail POS system + Promotions Module" together with the "e-Commerce" or "Social Commerce" system. This feature is currently not applicable to affiliate campaigns.

For merchants using the e-Commerce / Social Commerce + Retail POS system, SHOPLINE has released a "discount campaign combination" that can be synchronized between online stores and retail stores. Merchants can add more varied discount campaigns, such as bundle pricing, bundle group pricing, and coupons.

In this article, you'll find:

 

1. How to apply the discount and coupon code on POS app

Step 1

Select Checkout on the left menu of the POS app.

Step 2

After selecting the product for checkout and adding a new customer, the staff can tap "Claim / Add Coupon Code" or "Apply Promotion" to offer a discount.

A. Apply Promotion 

Tap Apply Promotion, and the system will automatically apply the corresponding discount. There are three factors that affect the discount result:

  1. Customers in the shopping cart: Decide whether there is a "membership discount".
  2. Product quantity and amount in the shopping cart: Determine the discount amount from the bundle and the promotion.
  3. Coupon code: Determine whether there are additional discounts, as shown below.

B. Add Coupon Code

Method 1. Enter coupon code

Tap Claim / Add Coupon Code next to "View Details", enter the coupon code and tap the Apply button (You can confirm the code from the store Admin).

  1. Applied successfully: A "Successfully applied" notification will pop up. If you tap "Coupon" in the cart details section, the applied promotion name and discount amount will be displayed.

  2. Failed to apply: An error message will appear below the input field for the following reasons.

    A promotion with a higher discount has been applied IMG_1962.JPG

    The coupon code is not valid for the current store IMG_1963.JPG

*Notes: 

  • You can apply multiple sets of coupon codes for one shopping cart.
  • Regardless of whether the application is successful or not, the coupon code will be cleared from the input field.

 

Method 2. Scan coupon code

Please guide your member to log in to your app and tap Coupon. Tap Offline Redemption at the bottom right of the coupon code to view the coupon barcode.

Return to the POS app, tap Claim / Add Coupon Code, and scan the coupon barcode with a scanner. The discount will be applied if the barcode is valid; if not, a prompt box will appear to explain the error.

*Note: A pop-up window will appear for the iOS version; an error message will appear above the "Checkout" button for the Android version.

C. Claim Coupon Code

*Note: This feature is only available for merchants using the POS app iOS v1.81.0 or Android v1.42.0 or later.

You can claim coupons in the coupon center for customers and apply them on the POS app with a single click. No manual entry required.

  1. Tap Claim / Add Coupon Code next to "View Details", and then tap View / Claim Coupon.

  2. A "Select Coupon" window will pop up. The "Available" tab shows the claimable and redeemable coupons of the customer. Each coupon comes with information such as benefit type, expiration date, and available channel. Tap Claim to claim the coupon for the customer.
    *Note: You can also tap the icon next to the coupon code to copy the code, and then apply the coupon on the checkout page.

    The "Upcoming" tab shows the coupons that are going to be available in the future.

  3. Tap Apply Promotion. A "Successfully applied" and a "Coupon code copied and applied" notification will pop up, and the coupon will be applied to the shopping cart.

Confirm the applied discount status

After applying the discount, the following information will appear:

  • Promotion name and event name applied to the product

  • For free gift promotions, a tag of "free gift" will display on the right side of the free gift icon. There will be information on the current inventory quantity and the title of this promotion. 

    *Note: If the free gift is an existing product, the free gift and the product share the same inventory quantity.

  • You can apply up to 5 custom discounts to the entire order in the same shopping cart.
  • The cart details section will display the successfully applied individual promotions and order discounts. Tap to view all applied promotions. A checkmark will appear next to the "Apply Promotion" button.

2. How to remove applied discount or coupon code

i. Remove applied discount

Remove automatically

  • Any changes to customers' information in the shopping cart: Adding new customers, changing customers in the shopping cart, and removing customers.
  • Any changes to the products in the shopping cart: Adding new products, removing products, changing the number of products, changing the price of the products, adding custom discounts for the products, and changing the products to return products.
  • Discounts will be cleared automatically after doing the actions above. Tap the Apply Promotion button again to reapply the discount.

Remove manually 

  • Remove the applied discount by swiping the bar to the left, or tap Delete All in the top left corner to remove all discounts.

  • The applied coupon code will also be removed when the discount is removed.
     

ii. Remove coupon code

  • Remove the applied coupon code by swiping the bar to the left, or tap Delete All in the top left corner to remove all coupons. The discount amount will be recalculated every time it is removed.

3. Display promotion information on the receipt

The promotion name and discount amount will be displayed on receipts for customers to view the applied promotions and the saved amount.

i. Example: Thermal receipt

  • Product 1. Savon visage à la lanoline: Displays promotion name "10% off on specified products for spending over $1,000" and the deducted amount of $100.
  • Product 2. Aleppol Laurel Soap: Displays promotion name "Buy 1 Get 1 For Free Shipping!" and the deducted amount of $500.
  • Displays all promotions and total deducted amounts in "Subtotal".

 

ii. Example: E-receipt

  • Product 1. Savon visage à la lanoline: Displays promotion name "10% off on specified products for spending over $1,000".
  • Product 2. Aleppol Laurel Soap: Displays promotion name "Buy 1 Get 1 For Free Shipping!".
  • Displays all promotions and total deducted amounts in "Subtotal".

4. Notes

  1. If a customized price has been applied to the original product, the customized price will be cleared when the discount is successfully applied.
  2. The "Apply Promotion" feature cannot be used in the following situations:
    • The POS app is offline.
    • There are returned items in the shopping cart.
    • When the product is excluded from store discounts, the discounts will not be automatically applied, but the store credits, member points, and POS app custom discounts will not be affected.
    • There are multiple prices for the same product or variation in the shopping cart (due to the customized price feature, as shown below).
