AI Smart Product Recommendation

"AI Smart Product Recommendation" uses AI algorithms to generate up to 20 recommended products based on the following 2 information, significantly increasing your store's conversion rate.

1. Customer's order records: Other products frequently purchased by customers who bought this item.
2. Product name, product description, and product category: Other products most relevant to this item.

⚠️ Before you start, please be reminded:

• If you have customized your website layout or style using custom CSS, it may affect the display of this feature. Please regularly check your storefront status to ensure your store and layout function properly.
• It is recommended to install the "AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS" app to enable the full features. If you have enabled the Layout Engine editor, please adjust the code according to the Notes before installing the "AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS" app.

1. "AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS" app

SHOPLINE has launched the "AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS" app (referred to as the PLUS version). Here is a comparison of the main differences between the standard version and the PLUS version:

Install the PLUS version

Step 1

Go to SHOPLINE Admin > [Products & Categories] > [AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS] and click Install for free, or use the installation link below:

Step 2

Click Install Now.

Step 3

Continue with the authorization of relevant permissions and click Install & authorize to complete the process.

Step 4

After successful installation, the Admin will display "PLUS" next to the feature name.

2. Enable AI Smart Product Recommendation

i. Product Detail Page

Step 1

In the SHOPLINE Admin, go to [Products & Categories] > [Products] and click Edit next to the product to be edited.

Step 2

On the edit page, select the Info tab.

Step 3

Scroll down to the "Related Products" section to enable the Smart Product Recommendation feature.

Step 4

The Product Detail Page will display a "Related Products" section.

PLUS only ii. Product List Page (All Products / Categories / Search Results)

Step 1

Go to SHOPLINE Admin > [Products & Categories] > [AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS] and click Edit on the right.

For related settings on this page, please refer to 4. Managing AI Smart Product Recommendation below.

Step 2

Once you enter the edit page, you can find the On/Off toggle in the top-right corner. The system is set to On by default.

Step 3

The Product List Page will display a "Related Products" section.

Step 1

Go to SHOPLINE Admin > [Products & Categories] > [AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS] and click Edit on the right.

Step 2

Once you enter the edit page, you can find the On/Off toggle in the top-right corner. The system is set to On by default.

*Notes: 

• Product detail page recommendations are enabled by default. You can still configure recommendations individually for each product.
• Changes (On/Off) may take up to 10 minutes to take effect.

Step 3

The Product List Page will display a "You might also like..." section.

• Shopping cart: The system will automatically exclude product sets, items already in the cart, and shopping cart add-ons to avoid duplicate recommendations.
  *Note: AI Smart Product Recommendation is only supported in the new version of the shopping cart. AI Smart Product Recommendations in both shopping cart and shopping cart sidebar are not currently supported for  Fast Checkout, Express Checkout Page, or One-Page Store.

  

3. Set up AI Smart Product Recommendation

Go to SHOPLINE Admin > [Products & Categories] > [AI Smart Product Recommendations] to view overall performance, edit AI Smart Product Recommendation displays on each placement.

i. Performance analysis

You can view the performance of AI Smart Product Recommendations over the past 30 days, including the following metrics:

*Remark: This page is updated daily and includes data for AI Smart Product Recommendation and Related Product Customization.

PLUS only Click the "View Performance Analytics" button to access the analytics page.

*Note: If you have not installed the "AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS" app, the system will display sample data.

Click the date in the top-right corner, select the analysis range, and then click Apply.

*Note: The analysis range can only be set starting from 1 November 2024.

The system will display detailed data for the selected analysis range, and you can click on each metric to view it individually.

ii. Advanced settings

All pages currently using AI Smart Product Recommendations and their corresponding strategies will be displayed below. Click Edit on the right to configure the settings.

*Note: If you have not installed the "AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS" app, you can only edit the Product Detail Page.

A. Select a recommendation strategy

Select an AI recommendation strategy. This strategy will apply to all products with AI Smart Product Recommendation enabled.

PLUS only B. Display Style

Set the display style for AI Smart Product Recommendation from the following three options:

• Full display: Shows 4 products per row on desktop and 2 products per row on mobile, with all products fully displayed.
• Single-line scroll: Shows 4 products at a time on desktop and 2 products at a time on mobile, with browsing limited to up to 20 products.
• Loop scroll: Shows 4 products at a time on desktop and 2 products at a time on mobile, with infinite looping available.

Click the icon in the top-right corner to preview the desktop and mobile display effects.

*Note: If you have not installed the "AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS" app, you cannot select a display style. The system will default to "Full display".

C. Non-smart recommended products

This section displays products that do not use AI Smart Product Recommendation. You can search by product name or product SKU, and click Edit on the right to adjust the settings.

You can also click Reset to Smart Product Recommendation in the upper right to reset all products at once.

*Notes:

• This list is sorted by product creation date from newest to oldest.
• Resetting products is not immediate and may take up to 48 hours to take effect.
• If there are no non-smart recommended products in your store, this section will not be displayed.

Go to SHOPLINE Admin > [Products & Categories] > [AI Smart Product Recommendations PLUS]. All placements currently using AI Smart Product Recommendations and their status will be displayed below. Click Edit on the right to configure the settings.

*Note: If you have not installed the "AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS" app, you can only edit the Product Detail Page.

i. Select a recommendation strategy

Select an AI recommendation strategy. This strategy will apply to all products with AI Smart Product Recommendation enabled.

PLUS only ii. Display Style

Set the display style for AI Smart Product Recommendation from the following three options:

• Full display: Shows 4 products per row on desktop and 2 products per row on mobile, with all products fully displayed.
• Single-line scroll: Shows 4 products at a time on desktop and 2 products at a time on mobile, with browsing limited to up to 20 products.
• Loop scroll: Shows 4 products at a time on desktop and 2 products at a time on mobile, with infinite looping available.

Click the icon in the top-right corner to preview the desktop and mobile display effects.

*Note:

• If you have not installed the "AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS" app, you cannot select a display style. The system will default to "Full display".
• The Shopping Cart page does not currently support custom layout settings.
• Changes to the layout may take up to 10 minutes to take effect.

iii. Non-smart recommended products (product detail page only)

This section displays products that do not use AI Smart Product Recommendation. You can search by product name or product SKU, and click Edit on the right to adjust the settings.

You can also click Boost the sales potential of 6 products in the upper right to reset all products at once.

• This list is sorted by product creation date from newest to oldest.
• Resetting products is not immediate and may take up to 48 hours to take effect.
• If there are no non-smart recommended products in your store, this section will not be displayed.

i. Metrics

Go to SHOPLINE Admin > [Products & Categories] > [AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS] to view related metrics at the top of the page.

*Note: If you do not have access to "Products & Categories" and "Shoplytics Sales" permissions, metrics related to store-wide share will be hidden.

PLUS only Click any metric to access the analytics page.

*Note: If you have not installed the "AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS" app, the system will display sample data.

You can view the performance of AI Smart Product Recommendations over the past 30 days, including AI Smart Product Recommendation and Related Product Customization. This page is updated daily.

Click the date in the top-right corner, select the analysis range, and then click Apply.

*Note: The analysis range can only be set starting from 1 November 2024.

The system will display detailed data for the selected analysis range, and you can click View Chart in the top-right corner of each section to expand the chart.

PLUS only ii. Placement contribution

On the "AI Smart Product Recommendations PLUS" page, click View page contribution in the top-right corner.

*Note: If you have not installed the "AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS" app, the system will display sample data.

The system will redirect you to the Performance Analytics page. Placement contributions will be displayed at the bottom, where you can view detailed metrics.

5. Notes

• AI Smart Product Recommendation generates a selection of products based on the past shopping behavior of all customers.
• To increase the diversity of recommended products, customers might view a different range of relevant products when browsing the same product page using the same browser.
• If there are not enough products in your store, the recommendation results may be fewer than 20. 
• Add-ons, free gifts, out-of-stock, unpublished, deleted, hidden products, [Coming Soon] products with hidden prices, and products with a price of 0 will not be recommended (after a product is sold out or its availability status changes, the system will update the recommendation results within 1 hour).
• Shopper App currently does not support the AI Smart Product Recommendations feature; you can manually customize related products. If no related products are set, the system will automatically display other products from the same category.
• If you uninstall and reinstall the "AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS" app, your previous settings will be restored. However, the performance analysis range will reset to its default value.
• If you have enabled the Layout Engine editor, please adjust the code according to the following scenarios before installing the "AI Smart Product Recommendation PLUS" app.
  • If you have modified the related_products liquid block / have not modified the product-detail.liquid block: Please refer to document 1 and documentation 2. Then, contact the Online Merchant Success Team to remove your store from the protection list. Once you are notified that the removal is complete, proceed with the installation.
  • If you have modified the product-detail.liquid block: Please refer to documentation 2 before installation.
  • [Coming Soon] To enable the Shopping Cart and Shopping Cart Sidebar placements, please refer to documentation 3 and adjust the code.
