SHOPLINE has introduced the "Product not applicable to discount" feature to assist you in managing product costs and preventing already-discounted products from being further discounted. For special offers, specific items, and low-margin products, you can set them as "products not applicable to discounts" to ensure that these products won't be subject to "Order-level discounts, membership offers, store credit redemption, and Points Redeem to Cash."

1. Steps to setup
Step 1. Confirm your plan
At the top right of Admin, go to [Hello, OOO] > [My Subscription & Billing] to view the store's plans and modules.
- Under the Paid Subscription, there are Plans and Modules. Please check if your store has the Promotions module. If you have this module, the feature will be directly enabled.
- If your "Current Plan" appears as follows, where you are using the Basic, Advanced, Premium, O2O, Enterprise, or Cross Border plan (see below), please confirm whether your store is using the Premium/ O2O/ Enterprise plan.
If your store is eligible for that plan, please go to [Apps] >[App Store] in the left menu to install the features.
Step 2. Switch on the feature toggle
In SHOPLINE Admin, go to [Products & Categories] > [Products], click Edit next to the product, and then select the Settings tab. Switch on the toggle for "Product not applicable to discount."
Upon switching on the toggle, you can decide whether to exclude the "Product not applicable to discount" feature in "Promotion Setting, Store Credits Setting, and Member Points Setting" respectively.
*Note: After switching on the toggle, you need to proceed to the aforementioned pages (i.e. Promotion Setting, Store Credits Setting, and Member Points Setting) to confirm the subsequent exclusion setup.
i. Promotion Setting
Go to Admin > [Promotions & Reward] > [Promotions], click on Promotion Settings, and find the "Order-level discount / Membership % offer exclude "product not applicable to discount" toggle.
- Switch ON the toggle: "Products not applicable to discounts" are NOT eligible for discounts.
- Switch OFF the toggle: "Products not applicable to discounts" are eligible for discounts.
*Note: This toggle is switched on by default, which means "Order-level discount/ Membership % offer" doesn't apply to products not applicable to discounts.
ii. Store Credits Setting
Go to Admin > [Customer Management] > [Store Credits]. Scroll down to the "Online Store Credit Setting" section and find the "Apply credits exclude 'product not applicable to discount'" toggle.
- Switch ON the toggle: Store credits are NOT redeemable for "Products not applicable to discounts".
- Switch OFF the toggle: Store credits are redeemable for "Products not applicable to discounts".
*Notes:
- This toggle is switched on by default, which means store credits cannot be applied.
- Before setting, please switch on the toggle for "Store Credits Toggle". For more details, please refer to Mechanism of applying store credits to orders.
iii. Member Points Setting
Go to Admin > [Customer Management] > [Member Points]. Scroll down to find the "Point Redeem to Cash" toggle.
- Check the box: Member points are NOT redeemable for "Products not applicable to discounts".
- Uncheck the box: Member points are redeemable for "Products not applicable to discounts".
*Note: This box is checked by default, which means "Member Point Redemption" doesn't apply to products not applicable to discounts.
2. System reminders
When you switch on the toggle for "Product not applicable to discount," reminders will appear on the following pages:
i. Promotions & Reward
Go to Admin > [Promotions & Reward] > [Promotions] and Click the Edit drop-down menu and click Promotion.
You can find the reminder text in [1. General Information] > [2. Set Benefit Type].
ii. Products & Categories
Go to Admin > [Products & Categories] > [Products]. Move the cursor to the icon in the Status column of the product to view the reminder.
iii. Customer Management
Go to Admin > [Customer Management] > [Membership Tier]. Click the More Action drop-down menu and click on Edit next to the tier you want to edit.
You can find the reminder text in the "Basic Settings" section.
iv. Shopping cart on the storefront
Customers can go to the shopping cart page and move the cursor over the blue asterisk next to the product name to view the reminder message.
3. Notes
i. Promotions where you can exclude products not applicable to discounts
- Order-level promotions + (Order-level % discount/ Order-level discount amount)
- Unconditional promotions + (Order-level % discount/ Order-level discount amount)
- Membership offers
- Store credits redemption
- Member points redemption
*Note: Once the feature is enabled, products not applicable to discounts will be excluded from the above five types of promotions. If there are multiple order-level (store-wide) discounts, you cannot select certain discounts to exclude or include.
If you wish to separately exclude products not applicable to discounts for "Order-level discount/ Membership % offer, Store credits, and Member points," please refer to the Promotion/ Store Credits/ Member Points setup.
Example 1:
You add a new store-wide promotion: "$50 off all orders over $500" promotion. However, Product A is a new product under another product-level discount. If you do not want the "$50 off all orders over $500" promotion to be applied to Product A, switch on the toggle for "Product not applicable to discount" for Product A.
For example:
If the shopping cart contains Product A of $300, Product B of $200,
the "$50 off all orders over $500" promotion will not apply to this shopping cart.
If the shopping cart contains Product A of $300, Product B of $200,
and Product C of $400, then the shopping cart will qualify for
the promotion discount of "$50 off all orders over $500", so the $50
discount will be split between Product B and Product C.
Example 2:
You add a new 20% off store-wide promotion. As Product A is already a select product for a discount. If you do not want the 20% promotion to be applied to Product A, switch on the toggle for "Product not applicable to discount" for Product A.
For example:
If a shopping cart contains Product A of $300, Product B of $200,
when applied with the 20% off order-level store promotion,
the discount will be $200 x 20% = $40.
Example 3:
You can create exclusive discounts for different membership tiers that will be applied once the members sign into their accounts. If you hold an anniversary sale and want to exclude this membership-exclusive discount, switch on the toggle for "Product not applicable to discount" for the specific products.
Example 4:
Customers can redeem store credits for cash within the given order amount range. If you want to exclude certain products from the store credit promotion (e.g.: for special products, new products), simply switch on the toggle for "Product not applicable to discount" for those products.
For example: When the maximum discount amount is 10% of the order,
if the cart contains Product A of $1000, Product B of $500,
you can set Product to be not applicable to discount, so that
the maximum discount for the cart will be $500 x 10% = $50.
ii. Promotions where you cannot exclude products not applicable to discounts
- Free Gift or Free Shipping + order-level promotions
- Free Gift or Free Shipping + unconditional promotions
- Selected product discount % or discount amount + order-level promotions
- Selected product discount % or discount amount + unconditional promotions
- Product-level promotion
- Category-level promotion
Example 1:
You add a new promotion: Free Shipping/ Free Gifts for all orders over $500. If the store is selling Product A, then Product A cannot be excluded from the promotion. That is, if the customer purchases Product A, the Free Shipping/ Free Gifts promotion will be applied.
Example 2:
If you have set a selected product-level/ selected category-level promotion, and the selected product/ category includes Product A, it will not be excluded from the discount. Thus when a customer purchases Product A, the selected product-level discount will be applied.
Note: It is recommended to turn on the feature "Show Promotion
information on product details page" so that customers can have
a better idea of what kind of promotions are available.
The display of promotion information on the product detail page
only reminds customers of the offers that can be applied to the
product but does not mean the offers that will be eventually
applied. Customers have to check out the shopping cart to view the final
promotion applied. The product information page DOES NOT indicate
whether a promotion is applicable or not.

iii. Apply promotions to products not applicable to discounts on the POS app
On the POS app, products with the "Product not applicable to discount" setting will be excluded from retail store promotions. However, customers can still apply store credit redemption, Points Redeem to Cash, and POS app custom discounts for these products.
Example 1:
When you tap Apply Promotion on the POS app, the system will not apply promotional discounts on products with the "not applicable to discount" setting.
Example 2:
When you add a custom % off or cash discount to the cart on the POS app, the system will apply the custom discount on products with the "not applicable to discount" setting.
