In situations where it is necessary for a sales clerk to add a new product that has not been uploaded to a store via SHOPLINE Admin, it is possible to create a new product directly using the SHOPLINE POS app. This article will guide you through how to create new products and edit product details in the POS app.

How to change a new product's barcode
1. How to add a new product on POS app
Step 1
From your POS app, go to the left sidebar, tap Checkout, and tap the "+" icon on the right-hand side.
Step 2
In the "Add Product" pop-up window, enter the new product's details. Available fields include product picture, product name, product category, price, cost, supplier, SKU, and inventory amount. You can also enable inventory tracking here.
*Note: You must fill in the "Product Name" field when adding a product. All other fields are optional.
- Product picture
Click on the camera icon on the left hand side to choose to add the product picture from the Photo Library on your device or by taking a new picture with your device’s Camera.
- Product variations
Click Select Variations to view all of the previously created variations. Authorized staff can add a new variation type in SHOPLINE Admin if the need arises. To do this, go to SHOPLINE Admin > [Retail Store] > [Variation Settings]. Please refer to this article for more information on Variation Settings: Product Variation Settings | POS Admin.
*Note: A product can have a maximum of two variations, for example, size and color.
After you set up the variation for the product, you can then enter the inventory amount for each variation of the product. For instance, you currently have no.1 and no.2 for a product, and both come in 100g and 250g bags. You then have four different variants for the product in total. You can enter the quantity for each variant. (Please see the picture below.)
Step 3
After checking that the information is correct, tap Save on the top right corner to finish creating your product.
2. How to change a new product's photo
It is possible to change a product's photo after it has been created by following the steps below.
Step 1
Long press the product whose picture you want to change on the Checkout tab. In the top right of the pop-up window, tap Edit.
Step 2
Click on the "pencil" icon on the left top corner to choose to add a new picture by taking one with your device’s Camera or importing one from the Photo Library on your device. After choosing a new picture for the product, tap Save on the top right corner. You can view the product with a new picture from your POS app.
3. How to edit a product's barcode
After adding a new product in POS, the system will automatically create a barcode. You can replace an automatically generated barcode with the actual barcode of your product by following the steps below.
Step 1
Long press the product whose barcode you want to change. A popup window will now appear. First, tap Edit in the top right-hand side of the window. Then, scroll down to see the product's barcode and edit it.
Step 2
After you click on the barcode, a new window will pop up and ask you to scan the barcode you wish to replace the auto-generated one with. Use the barcode scanner attached to this POS device to scan the new barcode and tap Save to complete the process.
*Note: Manually editing a product's barcode can currently only be done in SHOPLINE Admin by authorized staff.
