WeChat Pay Payment Settings

To assist merchants in the convenience of running their e-commerce operations, SHOPLINE has launched a new payment method called SHOPLINE Payments! This article will provide instructions for merchants using SHOPLINE Payments to set up "WeChat Pay" as a payment option in their Admin.

 

1. Setting up WeChat Pay in Admin

Step 1

Before you set up, please complete SHOPLINE Payments Basic and Advanced account verifications. There are two checkout options for WeChat Pay - "QR Code Payment" and "App Redirect Payment." Upon Advanced account verification, SHOPLINE Payments will enable the "QR Code Payment" feature and apply for WeChat Pay. After WeChat Pay completes the review process, "App Redirect Payment" will be activated.
*Note:

  • WeChat Pay only accepts applications from corporate entities (enterprises/companies) in Hong Kong and does NOT accept applications from individuals. 
  • Before the "App Redirect Payment" application is approved, WeChat Pay will default to "QR Code Payment." 

 

Step 2

After passing Advanced verification, go to your SHOPLINE Admin Panel > [Settings] > [Payment Options]. Click Add to add a payment option.

Step 3

Select "SHOPLINE Payments" for the Payment Type and "WeChat Pay" for the SHOPLINE Payments method.

*Note: WeChat Pay does not support setting payment fees.

Step 4

We recommend that you fill in the Payment Instructions. You can also upload JPG, PNG, and GIF images (smaller than 10 MB) in the "Drop Files Here" field. Check the box for "Display these instructions on the checkout page" so your customers can see the instructions when checking out.

*Payment Instruction example: "Before selecting WeChat Pay as the payment method, please ensure you have completed the real-name authentication for your WeChat Pay."EN


Step 5

Select the delivery option(s) to be excluded from this payment method. Click Add at the bottom right to update.

Step 6

After clicking Add, the reminder window will pop up (as shown in the image below). Please decide whether you wish to apply this payment method to all ongoing promotions and campaigns.

Click OK, and the option for "WeChat Pay" will appear on the list. 

*Note: It is recommended to move the position of WeChat Pay lower in the sorting order instead of making it the first payment option, in order to avoid accidental clicks from customers.

2. Customer checkout flow

Step 1

When customers place an order in the "Payment Method" field, they can select "WeChat Pay".

Step 2

Upon clicking Proceed to Checkout, customers will see "WeChat Pay" as their Selected Payment Method in the Payment Detail. After clicking on Place Order, customers will be redirected to WeChat Pay to scan the QR Code.

Step 3

After the customers confirm the checkout, the shopfront will be redirected to the payment QR Code page. Customers need to complete the transaction within 20 minutes as shown below.


A. Web version

B. Mobile version

If customers use the mobile version and have enabled the "App Redirect Payment" feature, they will be redirected to the payment screens as shown in Step 4 below.

 

Step 4

Tap Pay Now and the "Payment successful" page will appear immediately once the payment goes through.

After a successful payment, customers will be automatically redirected to the order completion page.

3. Notes

  • The transaction timeout for WeChat Pay is 20 minutes. If the transaction exceeds this period, a timeout message will be displayed.
  • When you initiate a refund for an order paid by credit card, the order status of WeChat Pay and SHOPLINE Payments will be "Refunding" until the amount was sent to the customer's bank account. The order status will then change to "Refunded" once the customer receives the refund.
  • Transaction limits:
    The transaction limit is subject to the type of WeChat Pay and the customer's payment method. Please refer to the table below for details.

    • Remark 1: Customers can check the transaction limit for their credit cards in the credit card list in the WeChat Pay app.
    • Remark 2: The daily collection limit via "App Redirect Payment" for merchants is 500,000 RMB. If the limit is reached, the "App Redirect Payment" will NOT be available for collection on that day and the quota will reset and accumulate again on the following day.

  • Disbursement:
    • The settlement currency is HKD.
    • The settlement period is 5 days after the transaction, with a possible extension during Chinese statutory holidays.
    • No deposit or refund fees are required.
  • If you abandon the payment process, you will be unable to return to the online store from your mobile device. The page will display a processing status as shown below. Please go back to the online store and place a new order.

  • If your product name includes special characters or emojis, they will be replaced with "◼︎" (black cubes).
    For example, the product name "🫧Shoes🫧😀" will be changed to " ◼︎Shoes◼︎◼︎", as shown in the image below.
