SHOPLINE POS operates with mC-Print3 CI printers for printing receipts or invoices. Please refer to the following article for installation.

The mcPrint3 CI receipt printer can be connected to the POS app using the following two methods: 

  1. Use iPad charging cable to connect iPad to mcPrint3 CI printer.
  2. Connect the iPad via Wi-Fi to the same router that the printer is connected to using a network cable.

2. Hardware requirements

A list of hardware required to set up a receipt printer at the store is as follows:

  1. Wi-Fi Router
  2. mcPrint3 CI e-invoice printer
  3. iPad device that has installed the SHOPLINE POS app
  4. iPad charging cable 

 

3. Installation instructions

Step 1. Remove the rear cover 

Place your fingertips into the gaps on both sides of the rear cover, then pull each side outward to open.

Step 2. Connect the AC adapter 

  • Fully insert the power cord connector into the AC adapter socket image7.png.
  • Insert the AC power supply plug vertically into the printer’s power port  image10.png.

Step 3. Power cord setup

There are three cable outlets (left, center, and right), allowing you to route the power cord based on the printer's placement.

Step 4. Turn on the power

Press the power button on the right side of the front operation panel. Release the button once the power LED lights up.

Step 5. Paper roll installation: open the front cover

Pull the front cover release lever image7.png to open the front cover image10.png.

Please follow the instructions below based on the paper roll specifications you purchased. 

  • For 57mm x 50mm electronic invoices or blank paper rolls, please refer to Step 6

  • For 80mm blank paper rolls (non-invoice), please refer to Step 7

 

Step 6. Paper roll guide installation 

*Note: If you are using 57mm electronic invoices or blank paper rolls, you must install the following guide first.

With the triangle-marked recess A facing downward, insert the guide into the printer body while tilting it to the right.

Place recess A onto the horizontal guide B, then slide the guide to the left until it clicks into the stop position image7.png

Step 7. Load the paper

To prevent paper jams, please ensure the paper roll is tightly wound before loading it into the printer.

Step 8. Close the front cover

Pull the end of the paper out straight image35.png and ensure it is held in place, then close the front cover.

Press the front cover down on both sides as shown in the figure below to close it image19.png. The paper roll installation is complete when the printer automatically cuts the paper.

4. POS app connection 

Step 1. Hardware connection 

Please choose one of the methods below to connect the printer to the POS app based on your needs.

  • Connect using the iPad charging cable. Refer to Method 1.
  • Connect iPad to mcPrint3 CI via Wi-Fi. Refer to Method 2.

 

Method 1: Connect using iPad charging cable

  1. Please prepare an iPad charging cable. One end must be a Type-C plug to connect to the printer, and the other end needs to match the port on your iPad (the specification may be a Lightning or Type-C plug).

  1. Plug one end of the iPad charging cable into the printer, and the other end into your iPad.

3. Install the rear cover

Insert the hooks A at the bottom of the rear cover into the corresponding slots on the printer body. Then, close the cover until hooks B on both sides click firmly into place.

Once connected, please proceed to Step 2. Connect to the POS app below.

 

Method 2: Connect using Wi-Fi

  1. Prepare an Ethernet cable long enough to reach from your Wi-Fi router to the printer.

  2. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the printer's LAN port, and the other end into a LAN port on your Wi-Fi router.

3. Install the rear cover

Insert the hooks A at the bottom of the rear cover into the corresponding slots on the printer body. Then, close the cover until hooks B on both sides click firmly into place.

Once connected, please proceed to Step 2. Connect to the POS app below.

 

Step 2. Connect to the POS app

  1. Go to the POS app > [Setting] > [Invoice and Receipt].

  1. Switch on the "Enable receipt" toggle. Ensure that "Receipt printer connection" is set to "Connected" and the "Receipt after checkout" section is set to "Print receipt".

3. Test print: Go to [Checkout], add products to the cart, and proceed to checkout to confirm if a receipt is printed. If you are unable to print the receipt, please contact our Online Merchant Success Team.

 

5. Printer reset 

Before resetting the printer, please confirm the hardware problem with our Online Merchant Success Team to avoid unexpected situations.

*Note: While resetting the printer, please replug both ends of the network cable connecting the printer and modem. At the same time, please turn off the e-invoice feature of the POS app before resetting.

Steps to reset:  

Step 1

To switch off the printer, press and hold the Power button image7.png on the right of the operation panel for more than 1 second.

Step 2

1. Use the tip of a pen to press and hold the red RESET button image7.png  on the back of the printer.

2. Press the Power button image10.png to turn on the power (Please do not release the red RESET button).

3. When the blue light remains on and the green light begins to flash image35.png, release the red RESET button image7.png.

Step 3

Once the blue light remains on and the green light flashes, press and hold the "FEED" button until a hardware information list is printed out, which indicates that the printer is reset.

After resetting, go to the POS app > [Setting] > [Invoice and Receipt], and enable the e-invoice feature.

6. Self-test printing

Please ensure the paper roll is installed before running the self-test printing.

 

Step 1. Turn off the printer 

Press and hold the power button on the right of the operation panel for more than 1 second.

Step 2. Self-test printing

While holding down the "FEED" button image7.png , press the power button image10.png  once to turn on the power.

Release the "FEED" button when the self-test printing starts.

After the self-test is complete, remove the printed paper.

7. Printer setup

Step 1

Go to the App Store and download the "Star Quick Setup Utility" application.

Step 2

Use the iPad charging cable to connect the iPad to the mcPrint3 CI printer.

Step 3

Open the mC-Print Utility app on the iPad, and confirm whether there is an mcPrint3 CI printer in the "Selected Printer" marked in the red frame below.

Step 4

In the "Star Quick Setup Utility", tap Printer Settings.

Then, click Memory Switch Settings.

Step 6

Under Printer Control, select "50.8mm (406 dots)" for Printable Area. Click Apply to save the setting.

POS app supports setting up the receipt size

Go to the POS app > [Settings] > [Invoice and Receipt] and confirm that the following conditions are met:

  • Switched on the "Enable receipt" toggle.
  • Set the E-Invoice machine connection to "Connected".
  • Set the "Receipt after checkout" section to "Print receipt".

You can set the receipt size to 57mm or 80mm.

*Note: If the POS app is connected to mPOP or the invoice/ e-invoice feature is enabled, the "Receipt Size" section will be hidden and set to 57mm by default.

Select the "Printable Area" value based on the receipt width set in the POS app, then click Apply in the bottom right corner.

  • If the receipt size is set to 57mm in the POS app, please select "50.8mm" for this field.

*Note: If the POS app is set to 57mm but the "Printable Area" is set to 72mm, the receipt will not print in full-width.

  • If the receipt size is set to 80mm in the POS app, please select "72mm" for this field.

    *Note: If the POS app is set to 80mm but the "Printable Area" is set to 50.8mm, the print range will be cropped.

Step 7

SHOPLINE POS connection settings

1. Connect mcPrint3 CI to iPad. (Choose one operation below)

  • Connect using the iPad charging cable: Plug the charging cable into the iPad charging port and the USB port of mcPrint3.
  • Connect iPad to mcPrint3 via Wi-Fi: Connect the Wi-Fi router to the mcPrint3 printer with a network cable, and open the [Settings] > [Wi-Fi] on the iPad to connect to the network shared by the same Wi-Fi router.

2. Open the SHOPLINE POS app and go to the [Settings] > [Invoice and Receipt] to enable related functions.

  • If you have integrated the e-invoice feature, switch on the "Enable invoice" toggle button.
  • To only print out receipts, switch on the "Enable receipt" toggle button.

3. Wait until the status of "E-Invoice machine connection" or "Receipt printer connection" changes to "Connected".

*Note: Please remember to install the black guide to fix the paper roll.

 

8. Printer cleaning and maintenance

Step 1. Turn off the power

Turn off the power, and then unplug the power plug from the power outlet.

Step 2. Open the printer front cover

Pull the front cover release lever image3.png, then open the front cover image5.png.

Step 3. Clean the print head

Use a dry cotton swab to wipe the heating area of ​​the print head. Remove the black paper dust accumulated on the surface of the thermal print head.

 

9. Warranty and notes

  1. The product warranty covers non-human damage for one year. Please note that the cutter and thermal print head are consumables and are covered by a 3-month warranty only. If you encounter any issues, please contact our Online Merchant Success Team via the SHOPLINE Admin or the icon in the bottom-right of the POS app.
  2. The mC-Print3 CI is a fully upgraded model. The included AC power adapter must NOT be used interchangeably with the standard mC-Print3 model; doing so may result in machine damage.
