In the SHOPLINE Admin, you can send SMS notifications to customers via Broadcast Center and Custom Notifications for optimal remarketing exposure and CRM. 

In this article, you'll find:

 

1. Supported countries/ regions for SMS service

Due to restrictions imposed by telecom providers in certain countries/ regions, sending permissions may be required, or additional fees may apply. If your SMS is not delivered, it may be due to the recipient's phone number being from one of these restricted countries/ regions. For more information, please contact the Online Merchant Success Team.

*Notes:

  • If you wish to restrict the countries/ regions where your store supports SMS sending, go to the Admin > [Settings] > [Customer Settings]. In the "Verification method" section, check "Mobile sign up country". For detailed steps, please refer to Mobile Number Sign Up and Login.
  • This setting only applies to newly registered merchants. If an existing member's phone number belongs to a restricted country/ region before you change the settings, SMS will still be sent.

2. SMS fee for Taiwan stores

The SMS fee will be charged based on the character count in the message. The charging standards vary among different countries/ regions. Some system SMS content will include the store and customer names, so please note its effect on the SMS character count. The SMS rates are as follows:

  • NT$1 (tax included) per local message.
  • NT$4.2 (tax included) per international message. 

Please refer to this article for more information on the text message service for Taiwan stores (available in Traditional Chinese only).

*Note:

The SMS content, whether in English, Chinese or a mix of both, is limited to 70 half-width characters per message. If the message exceeds this character limit, the system will still send it as one long message without splitting it into segments. However, the fee will be calculated based on the actual number of characters or messages sent. The reference table is as shown below:

3. SMS fee for Hong Kong stores

The SMS fee will be charged based on the character count in the message. The charging standards vary among different countries/ regions. Some system SMS content will include the store and customer names, so please note its effect on the SMS character count. The SMS rates are as follows:

  • HK$0.8 per local message
  • HK$3​ per​​​ international message

*Notes:

  • Full English (half-width characters) SMS message: Each message has a 160-character limit, but the system will split the message when it reaches 153 characters. The 154th to 160th characters will be sent in another message. Starting 1 September 2023, the SMS fee will be calculated based on the number of characters actually sent.
  • Mixed English and Chinese SMS message: Each message has a 70-character limit, but the system will split the message when it reaches 67 characters. The 68th to 70th characters will be sent in another message. Starting 1 September 2023, the SMS fee will be charged based on the number of characters actually sent.

4. SMS fee for Malaysia stores

The SMS fee will be charged based on the character count in the message. The charging standards vary among different countries/ regions. Some system SMS content will include the store and customer names, so please note its effect on the SMS character count. The SMS rates are as follows:
The fee is RM$0.318 per local message and per​​​ international message.

*Notes:

  • Full English (half-width characters) SMS message: Each message has a 160-character limit, but the system will split the message when it reaches 153 characters. The 154th to 160th characters will be sent in another message. Starting 1 September 2023, the SMS fee will be calculated based on the number of characters actually sent.
  • Mixed English and Chinese SMS message: Each message has a 70-character limit, but the system will split the message when it reaches 67 characters. The 68th to 70th characters will be sent in another message. Starting 1 September 2023, the SMS fee will be charged based on the number of characters actually sent.

5. SMS Report

You can go to [Report & Analytics] > [Report Export] > [SMS Report] to download the monthly report.

  1. In the report, you will find the country/ area calling code, recipient's mobile number, sent date, SMS type, and the number of messages sent.report_content_EN.png
  2. When the message content exceeds the character limit, the system can still send the content in 1 SMS in most countries/regions to prevent the recipients from receiving multiple messages. However, not all countries/regions support this service. Some countries/regions will split the message into segments if it exceeds the character limit.
  3. If the country/ area code of the recipient's mobile number is the same as the country/ region to which the store belongs, the SMS will be regarded as a local message; if the number is from another country/ area code, it is regarded as an international text message.

 

5. Notes

  • If you use SMS broadcasting, please note that the SMS fee will be incurred depending on the number of recipients. The fee will be based on the monthly SMS report.
  • SMS bills of each store cannot be consolidated.
