Facebook Group Live releases the event feature. Merchants can use these events to increase livestream interactions and improve customer engagement.
This article will cover the following:
- Open the event setup page
- Lucky Draw
- Leave keywords and get limited vouchers
- Bidding
- Quick Answers
- Poll
- Notes
1. Open the event setup page
In the SHOPLINE Admin, go to [Social Commerce] > [SHOPLINE Live] and enter the Facebook Group livestream. Then, click the Event button.
Click the Add button, then select the event type. For more information regarding each event, please refer to the section below.
2. Lucky Draw
Enter the event title, keyword, event quota, and event time.
You can also set up advanced settings and prize content.
- Advanced Setting: Besides comment keywords, you also need to select the conditions that qualify customers for participation in the lucky draw. Unlike Facebook Page Live, the Facebook Group Live currently only supports 3 advanced settings:
- Users who have purchased before:
1. Only customers who have placed an order through livestream before can enter the lucky draw.
2. If you have sent a cart link to your customers from backstage and created an order for the customer, the customer will also be able to enter the lucky draw. - Product keyword commented: Only customers who have left a product keyword in the livestream can enter the lucky draw.
- Not a winner: Given that you have created multiple lucky draws in a livestream, if customer A has won a prize in the lucky draw A event, they will not be able to enter another lucky draw B event.
- Users who have purchased before:
- Prize content: You can select a product, a gift, or a discount offer as a lucky draw prize (you can set up the discount expiration time as well).
In the next step, you can customize your lucky draw messages. Once you have completed the settings, click Create.
*Note: The toggle for "Reply to the winner's comment" is switched off by default. Once enabled, the system will automatically reply to the winner's comment in the livestream with the customized winning message. Please note that in accordance with Facebook's policy, sending a high frequency of comments may trigger a spam alert. For more details, please refer to Facebook Community Standards.
Once the Group Live is connected to the Admin and has begun, click the Go icon to start the lucky draw event.
Customer comments will appear in the comment section on the right, and the number of participants and people eligible will sync up in real time on the left.
If you did not set an event time, the system automatically draws a winner when the event ends; you can also draw a winner manually.
*Note: Facebook Groups currently do not support showing the drawing process in a new window. You can only draw the winner on this current tab.
Once you have drawn a winner, you can view the winner information in the left section.
*The Group Live event process is similar to the Page Live process. For more information, please refer to Facebook Live | Lucky Draw.
3. Leave keyword and get limited vouchers
Enter the event title, keyword, discount quota, discount amount, discount expiration time, and event time. You can also check the "haven't won prizes" under the "Advanced Setting."
In the next step, you can customize the event message. Once setup is complete, click Create.
*Notes:
- Because the discount is issued after the event ends (winner is drawn), the "Get discount message" from the Facebook Page will be adjusted to "Draw message" in the Facebook Group Live.
- The toggle for "Reply to the winner's comment" is switched off by default. Once enabled, the system will automatically reply to the winner's comment in the livestream with the customized winning message. Please note that in accordance with Facebook's policy, sending a high frequency of comments may trigger a spam alert. For more details, please refer to Facebook Community Standards.
Once the Group Live is connected to the Admin and has begun, click the Go icon to start the leave keyword and get limited vouchers event.
Customer comments will appear in the comment section on the right, and the number of participants will appear on the left.
If you set an event time, the system automatically draws a winner when the event ends; you can also draw a winner manually.
*Note: Unlike the "Leave comments to get limited vouchers" event in Facebook Page Live, you will need to draw a winner manually if you do not set an event time.
Once you have drawn a winner, you can view the winner information in the left section.
*The Group Live event process is similar to the Page Live process. Please refer to Facebook Live | Leave Keyword and Get Limited Vouchers FAQ for more information.
4. Bidding
Enter the event title, winning quota, starting price, highest price, event time, and bidding product (select existing products or add new products).
In the next step, you can customize the event message. Once setup is complete, click Create.
Once the Group Live is connected to the Admin and has begun, click the Go icon to start the bidding event.
Customer comments will appear in the comment section on the right.
If you did not set an event time, the system automatically draws a winner when the event ends; you can also draw a winner manually.

*The Group Live event process is similar to the Page Live process. For more information, please refer to Facebook Live | Quick Answer.
6. Poll
Fill in the poll question, options, event time, winning option, winner quota, and prize.
Next, customize the poll event message. If you do not edit the message, the system will send the default message. Click Create to successfully create the lucky draw.
*Note: If you do not set the winner option, the winning message will not be sent to the participant.
Connect the livestream you have started on the Facebook Group in the Admin. Then, click the GO icon next to the poll event to start the event.
Viewers' comments will appear in the comment section on the right.
If you set an event time, the event will terminate and announce the poll result automatically when the time ends. Alternatively, you can terminate the event manually.
Upon announcing the result, you can view the "Poll details" on the left.
*Note: If the same viewer votes multiple times in the same poll event, the system will only recognize the latest vote.
*The steps to start a poll event on Facebook Group are similar to Facebook Page. For more details, please refer to this Facebook Live | Poll.
