SHOPLINE's "Enable Cookies Consent Notice" invites customers to give consent when visiting the online store, which will trigger the tracking of website sessions, identifying customer information and browsing history. This helps provide customers with a smoother and more convenient shopping experience.

In this article, you'll learn:

 

1. Enable the cookie consent banner

There are two ways to enable the cookie consent banner, which will vary depending on whether your online store uses the new version of the page builder. Please see this article to know how to use the new page builder.

*Note: Shopper App currently does not support Cookies consent banner and subsequent tracking behaviors.

 

A. For merchants using the new page builder

Proceed to SHOPLINE Admin > [Online Store Design] > [Pages] and click Advanced Page/Edit to open up the Advanced Page settings page.

Click Store Settings, then select the Others tab.

Switch on the toggle for "Enable cookies banner".

Please check the terms in the pop-up reminder. Click Confirm to confirm enabling the feature.

B. For merchants not yet using the new page builder

In the store Admin Panel, go to [Online Store Design] > [Design]. Select the Advanced Settings tab and check the box for "Enable cookies banner."

Please check the terms in the pop-up reminder. Click Save to confirm enabling the feature.

2. Views from the storefront

After enabling the cookies consent banner, the banner will appear as long as the browser has no record of agreeing to use cookies, the banner will appear. This condition applies regardless of whether the customer enters the online store homepage through a search engine or is being redirected to the product details page.

*Note: The consent banner will appear as long as the browser has no record of consent to use cookies.

*Reminder: SHOPLINE does not support the default privacy policy. Please list the relevant terms on the "Terms and Conditions" page in advance. You can go to [Online Store Design] > Page tab to edit the terms.

B. Cookies settings

Customers can select whether to enable the tracking of statistical cookies, marketing cookies, and functionality cookies by clicking "Settings" in the banner.

*Notes:

  • Customers cannot turn off the "strictly necessary cookies" toggle switch. Otherwise, the site cannot provide the expected services.
  • The customer's cookies settings and consent will be saved for 12 months.
  • Please refer to the instructions below for the data tracked from customers' behavior after enabling statistical cookies, marketing cookies, and functionality cookies.

C. Accept 

The customer clicks "Accept" in the banner, and the banner will no longer appear on the page in the same browser. This consent record will remain for 12 months.

*Note: Customers need to give consent to continue interacting with the online store.

If the customer has changed the website browsing language, the changed language option will be displayed the next time they enter the website

For customers who enter the online store from livestreams to place an order, the next time they enter the online store through livestream, the system will automatically apply the customer information and delivery address.

The system will not automatically apply the customer information and delivery address when an existing customer places another order in the online store through livestream.

If the customer enters the online store through a URL with UTM parameters, it will be recorded in the order UTM source information after placing an order.

On the product details page of the product set, if the customer clicks to expand the promotion campaign information, the campaign information will still be expanded the next time they enter the same page.
