SHOPLINE POS system is integrated with mPOP multi-functional cashier. Please refer to the following steps for installation.

1. Basic setup
i. Power connection
Before connecting to power, please make sure the power switch located on the left side of the mPOP is switched to "OFF".
Plug the power cord into the jack located on the bottom of the mPOP, and connect the power supply to the power socket.
Find the power switch located on the left side of the machine and switch it on. (switch to the "On" position)
ii. Connect to iPad
- Please turn on the Bluetooth on the iPad and look for the device name "STAR mPOP-(xxxxx)".
- Once the cashier is connected, the device "STAR mPOP-(xxxxx)" will appear as "Connected" and the LED power indicator on the mPOP will remain lit.
2. Connecting the POS app to mPOP cashier drawer
After completing the Bluetooth connection, please proceed to the POS app, tap Settings > Invoice to enable the related functions.
- If you have integrated the e-invoice issuance feature, please switch on the "Electronic Invoice" toggle.
- If you wish to print receipts only, please switch on the "Enable receipt" toggle.
Note: If you do not need to issue invoices or print receipts but need to open the cashier drawer, please enable the "Receipt" function. After you have confirmed that the "Electronic Invoice Connection" is connected, please switch off the function for "Print receipt after checkout". The mPOP cashier will eject upon checkout.
3. Open cash drawer
If you need to open the cash drawer in conditions other than checkout, please go to SHOPLINE Admin or POS app. Click/tap the blue conversation bubble and apply for the feature with our Online Merchant Success Team.
Once this feature is enabled, please refresh the POS app. Go to [Settings], and tap Open Cash Drawer to open the drawer.
4. Thermal paper roll maintenance
A. Paper roll replacement
- Press on the front of the invoice printer box (1), and the invoice box (2) will be unlocked and ejected.
- Pull the blue lever (1) of the invoice printer box forward, and pull up the cover (2) to open the invoice roll cover.
- Paper roll installation: Please place the paper roll into the paper slot in the direction shown below.
- Close the invoice box cover: First, pull the end of the paper roll straight out (1) then clamp the paper between the machine slot and top cover. After that, close the top cover (2), the invoice printer box will automatically trim the paper, indicating that installation has been completed.
- Push the invoice printer box into the mPOP cashier until you hear a "click" sound. Please also confirm the LED power indicator is steadily lit blue.
B. Paper jam removal
When a paper jam occurs, please do not pull the paper by force. Follow the instructions below to remove the jammed paper.
While the printer power is on, open the printer cover, and the cutter will start to return to its original position.
- Press on the front of the invoice printer box (1), and the invoice print box (2) will then be unlocked and ejected.
- Pull the blue lever (1) of the invoice printer box forward, and pull up the cover (2) to open the invoice roll cover.
- Remove the jammed paper:
- Remove all the ripped paper and make sure there is no paper residue. Paper residue will cause another paper jam.
- Pulling the paper out forcefully may cause damage. If you still have difficulties in removing the jammed paper, please contact the Online Merchant Success Team.
- Loading the paper roll: please refer to Step 3 above.
Please take note of the following to avoid paper jams:
- When loading the paper rolls, please smoothen the ends of the paper roll and pull it out gently.
- Do not touch the paper when it is printing, coming out from the printing slot or before it has been trimmed.
5. Printer maintenance
- Turn off the power before pulling the plug.
- Press on the front of the printer (1), then pull out (2) the printer.
- Pull the blue lever forward (1), and then open the top cover (2)

- Thermal print head
Dip a cotton swab in alcohol (ethanol, methanol, or isopropanol) and wipe the thermal print head to remove any toner residue. - Wiping the rubber roller
Use a soft and dry cloth to wipe the rubber roller and rotate the roller to ensure the entire rubber roller has been cleaned. - Cleaning the Sensor and paper roll slot
Remove any debris, dust, and powder. Make sure that all debris, dust, and powder have been removed because it might get blown inside the printer and cause malfunction.

6. mPOP Bluetooth configuration
i. Bluetooth configuration
- Please press and hold (1) the Bluetooth reset button located at the bottom of the mPOP. At the same time, switch on the power button located on the left side of mPOP.
- When the Bluetooth reset begins, the LED power and error indicator lights will begin to flash. When they are flashing, please release the Bluetooth reset button.
- When the reset is complete, the LED power indicator will stop flashing and be lit steadily.
ii. Delete the original Bluetooth connection on the iPad
- Go to the iPad Settings and tap "Bluetooth".
- Look for the Bluetooth device named "STAR mPOP-(xxxxxx )" and tap on the exclamation mark.
- Tap "Forget This Device".
- Reconnect mPOP to the iPad via Bluetooth.
7. mPOP LED indicator status
a is the LED battery signal indicator; b is the LED error signal indicator.
A. Normal functioning signal
- Power Off

Standby mode: power on and in standby mode.
- Configuring Bluetooth connection
(Power and Error signal flashing at the same time)

USB charging device: USB port is currently connected to a USB charging device.
When a tablet is connected to the mPOP for charging, the power and error signal LED indicator will flash at the same time for 5 seconds.

Connecting to a USB hub (multi-connector) device (mPOP cannot be used with a USB hub): If connected, the LED power signal and an error signal will flash interchangeably for 5 seconds and then return to the standby mode.
B. Auto-recoverable error signals
- When printing stops due to the overheating of the printer head: Printing will be automatically resumed when the printer head temperature returns to normal.
(The power signal flashes once while the error signal is off)
- When printing stops due to motherboard overheating: printing will be automatically resumed when the motherboard returns to its normal temperature.
(Power signal flashes twice and the error signal is off)
C. Manually recoverable error signals
- Printer start-up error: The printer cover is on or the printer is unlocked.
Place the paper roll into the paper slot, cover the lid, and push the printer back into the cashier to lock it. The LED power signal will return to standby mode. - Out of paper error: The printer has run out of paper.
Place the new paper roll into the paper slot, cover the lid, and push the printer back into the cashier to lock it. The LED power signal will then return to standby mode.

Cashier drawer ejection error: Cashier drawer unable to eject.
Check and remove anything that obstructs the ejection of the cashier drawer, then try to eject the drawer. When the cashier drawer functions normally, the LED power signal will return to standby mode.(Power signal on, error signal flashes once)
D. Error signals that require reporting
- Print cutter error: The print cutter is not functioning normally.
When the paper is jammed, please remove the jammed paper and reposition the paper to confirm whether the error is solved. If the error is still not solved, reset the printer. If the error still exists, please contact SHOPLINE Online Merchant Success Team.(Power signal off, error signal keeps flashing)

Abnormal voltage supply detected: The voltage supply is unstable or the power supply is abnormal.
Please turn the power off and on again. You may also try switching to other power sockets and switching the power back on. If the error still exists, please contact SHOPLINE Online Merchant Success Team.(Power signal out, error signal flashes once)

Thermistor detection error: The printing head thermistor (temperature detector) detects an abnormality.
Please first turn the power off then switch it back on. If the error still exists, please contact SHOPLINE Online Merchant Success Team.(Power signal off, error signal flashes twice)

Bluetooth connection error: Bluetooth set detection error.
Please turn the power off then switch it back on. If the error still exists, please contact SHOPLINE Online Merchant Success Team.(Power signal off, error signal flashes 3 times)

Flash drive error: Error is detected on the flash memory drive motherboard.
Please turn the power off then switch it back on. If the error still exists, please contact SHOPLINE Online Merchant Success Team.(Power signal off, error signal flashes 4 times)

EEPROM access error: Error detected in the EEPROM memory drive on the motherboard.
Please turn the power off then switch it back on. If the error still exists, please contact SHOPLINE Online Merchant Success Team.(Power signal off, error signal flashes 5 times)

SRAM access error: Error detected in the SRAM memory drive on the motherboard.
Please turn the power off then switch it back on. If the same error still persists, please contact SHOPLINE online consultant.(Power signal off, error signal flashes 6 times)
8. When mPOP cannot automatically eject cashier drawer
- Go to the App Store to download "Star Quick Setup Utility".
- Make sure the Bluetooth on the iPad is connected to the mPOP device.
- Open the "Star Quick Setup Utility" app and make sure "Selected Printer" has been connected to your mPOP device name.
- Tap Memory Switch Settings.
- Scroll down till you locate Cash Drawer Control, make sure you have enabled the "Drawer Open Switch". If you find any errors, please correct them accordingly and tap Apply when you're done.
