[Coming Soon] Create Customer Group


SHOPLINE "Customer Group" feature will allow you to use a variety of filters to accurately segment your audience. You can also export relevant reports of specific customer groups, so that you can formulate the best marketing strategies and promotional activities for this customer group.

This article will cover the following:  


1.  Creating Customer Groups

Step 1

Proceed to SHOPLINE Admin > [Customer Management] > [ Customer Group] and click the Create group button.



Step 2

Enter the name of the group. The maximum text limit is 50 characters. 



Step 3

Select the filter conditions. You can select "Include" and "Exclude" conditions separately.

A. Include

Click the Please Select button and select the filter criteria from the drop-down menu.

Customers who meet the criteria you select will be added to this customer group.



Click the + OR button on the right or the + AND button below to add the conditions that this customer group needs to meet.


For example: The Condition states "Has email or Email verified" and "Is a member"
If the customer has an email and is a member, or the email has been verified and is a member, they will be added to this customer



Click the "bin" icon on the right to remove the condition.



B. Exclude

The system sets an "Exclude" condition by default: if the customer is on the blacklist, it will be excluded. Click "Is blacklisted" to replace the filter.

Customers who meet the criteria you select will be excluded from this customer group.



Step 4

After the group conditions are set, the following information will be displayed in the "Summary" on the right.

  • Filters: Displays the total number of group filter conditions you set.

  • Estimate Counts: Click the "Estimate Counts" button and the system will calculate how many customers belong in the group based on the selected filter conditions.


After confirming that the filter criteria and group size are correct, click the Save button at the top right.




 2. [Coming Soon] Regenerate Group

When creating a customer group, you can choose the group update method later: 

  • Manually update 
  • Auto update, Update cycle:  Every 7, 14, 30, 60, 90 days. 



In response to the new "Regenerate Group" feature, if a filter requires you to select a specific time period, the select time can be updated in the following two ways: 

1. Fixed: 

  • Set a fixed time period, the system will match customers who meet the criteria. 
  • When regenerating the group, it will use the original time period to match customers.
For Example: 
You created a group on 8/10, and selected the filter condition for Money spent over $500 between 8/3-8/10.

If you manually or automatically update this group list on 9/10, you will
still match customers and update the list based on the filter condition for money spent over $500 between 8/3-8/10.



2. Past (suggested use): 

  • Set the number of days, the system will match customers who meet the criteria in the past few days. 
  • When regenerating the group, the new period will be based on the selected period along with the date of update. 
For example: 

You create a group on 8/10, and select the filter condition for the money
spent in the past seven days that is greater than $500.

If you manually or automatically update this grouping list on 9/10, customers will be matched and the list will be updated based on the condition that the money spent from 9/3-9/10 is greater than $500.


*Remark: The "Membership Expiry Date"  filter condition is to select the future time, so the method of selecting the period is divided into "Fixed" and "Next". 



Once the group is created, you can check the group update method, last update time, and list count. 



Click View List to manually update the customer group, or adjust the group update method. 

*Note: If you adjust the auto update cycle, the date of modification will be used as the start date of the new cycle. As demonstrated in the following examples:     

  • When creating a group on 7/1, set the auto update cycle list to 7 days (the cycle start date will be 7/1) 
  • The first list of the group will be generated on 7/8
  • When the cycle is revised to 15 days on 7/10 (cycle start date will be adjusted to 7/20) 
  • The second list of the group will be generated on 7/24



You can also view the created time, count, and data analysis of each group list, and perform the following actions such as exporting reports, deleting lists, and other actions.

*Note: The name of the newly added list will be based on the name you originally set when the group was created along with -2, -3...




  • A customer group supports manually updating the list only once per day. 
  • If the group list has been successfully regenerated on the same day, even if the list is subsequently deleted, it cannot be manually updated again on the same day. If the update fails or the loading time is taking too long during the manual update, you can manually update it after deleting it.
  • A manual update cannot be performed on the day the group is created.
  • When deleting a group, the group and all lists under the group will be deleted together.
  • Due to system limitations, the first list matched when creating a group cannot be deleted.
