Membership Upgrade and Extend Reminder

The “Member Upgrade Reminder” feature displays different upgrade reminders according to the membership tiers to stimulate consumption & upgrades. This feature allows merchants to view customer status, encourage customer spending and maintain membership.

 

1. Enable the feature

In the SHOPLINE Admin, go to [Settings] > [Customer Settings] and switch on the toggle for "Customers can view membership upgrade and extend reminder."

Scroll down the page and click Update at the bottom right.

2. Views at the storefront

After turning on the toggle, customers can go to the Member Center > Profile to view the membership upgrade and extend reminder, the accumulated spent amount, the spending amount progress bar, and the rule for all membership tiers.

Click View All Membership to see the rules.

3. Examples of the membership upgrade and extend reminder

The membership information, upgrade/ and extend reminder displays differently according to different membership tiers.

For example, there are four membership tiers in your store: Basic, Newbie (Level 1), General Member (Level 2), and Premium Member (Level 3). Customers will see the following in the "Membership Information" and "Membership Upgrade/Extend Reminder" in the Member Center of the online store.

 

A. Membership information

i. If the customer is a Basic member, there will be no member offer and no valid period.

  • The reminder displays the name and member offer of the next tier to encourage customers to spend more and upgrade.No_single_purchase.png

ii. If the customer upgrades to Newbie or General Member (Level 1 or 2) and has not reached the highest membership tier.

  • The reminder displays the membership expiry date, membership offers, and extension condition
  • It also displays the name and member offer of the next tier to encourage customers to spend more and upgrade.VIP_1_copy.png

iii. The customer upgrades to Premium Member (Level 3), the highest membership tier

  • The reminder displays the membership expiry date, membership offers, and extension condition
  • Displays "Congrats! You are in the TOP membership level."Premium_NOTELi_copy.png

 

B. Upgrade/ extend reminder

i. The customer is a Basic / Newbie/ General Member and has not reached the highest tier (Premium).

If the customer has not purchased the amount required for an upgrade. A progress bar will show the amount difference to encourage customers to reach the goal for the upgrade.spend_more_to_upgrade.png

 

ii. If the customer has purchased the amount required for an upgrade. The progress bar will change to "Eligible to upgrade." 

*Note: The automatic update time will be the early morning of the next day after the order is paid.General_member_spendingELI_copy.png

 

iii. The customer is a Premium Member which is the highest tier. The reminder will not display an upgrade reminder.

*Note: If your membership upgrade condition is set to "Single purchase over a fixed amount," it will display whether the customer has an order that meets the extension requirement.

4. Admin Settings

In the Admin, please go to [Customer Management] > Customer List. Click View to view the customer's information. Scroll down to the "Membership" section to view whether the customer meets the condition for an upgrade or extension.

A. If the customer is not eligible to upgrade or extend the membership

The purchase amount goal for upgrade and extension will display in the section.

B. If the customer is not eligible to extend the membership

*Note: The example below is the profile of a premium member (the highest membership tier). The system will not show the eligibility for an upgrade, only the eligibility for extending the same membership tier.

C. If the customer is eligible to upgrade/ extend the membership

The system will show that the customer is "eligible to upgrade" and "extension will be effective on expiry date."

5. Notes

  1. Assuming that the customer is a Basic member, although the Member Center only displays whether eligible to upgrade to the next tier, it does not affect the member's eligibility to the highest tier. If the member meets the upgrade condition of the highest tier at one time, the system will still upgrade the membership to the highest tier.
  2. The upgrade reminder will be checked and updated the morning of the next day after the order is paid. Membership upgrades will not be effective if the orders have been cancelled or refunded.
  3. The system will only check whether the accumulated amount of the "non-cancelled" and "paid" orders is eligible for the upgrade. If the member cancels the order or returns it, it will not be eligible for the upgrade and needs to be downgraded manually.
