SHOPLINE POS system operates with Socket Mobile 7ci, S700 and S720 Bluetooth barcode scanner. Installation procedures are as below:
*Note:
- Use NiMH batteries for your S700 or S720 barcode scanner. Please allow 8 hours uninterrupted charging for the initial battery charge to prevent the memory effect and ensure optimal battery capacity.
- S700 only supports scanning 1D barcodes while S720 supports scanning 1D or 2D (QR codes) barcodes.

S700/S720 can be placed on the exclusive charging dock. Furthermore, S720 supports automatic scanning that allows charging and scanning at the same time. For more details of automatic scanning, please go to iv. S720 automatic scanning below.
*Note: The suitable scanning range is about 15 cm.
2. Basic operation
i. Power on
Press and hold Button 2 (Power button) until 2 beeps (low-high) and the LED turns blue.
ii. Power off
Press and hold Button 2 (Power button) until 2 beeps (high-low) and the LED goes off.
iii. Scan barcodes
Hold the scanner about 10 cm from the barcode and press and hold Button 1 (Scan button) until the scanner beeps once.
*If you hear two beeps (same tone), please check if the tablet device has connected to "Socket S700/ S720 " or "Socket 7ci" in the Bluetooth setting.
iv. S720 automatic scanning
S720 can be placed on the charging dock for automatic scanning. The barcode scanner will detect a nearby barcode and scan it automatically. With this feature, merchants no longer need to manually press the button. The distance for automatic scanning is about 15 cm. The S720 barcode scanner can switch between the following scanning modes.
- Mobile Mode: This is the default mode which requires you to press the button manually.
- Auto Mode:
- The scanner is in automatic scanning mode when it is on the charging dock.
- Press the scanning button and the scanner will switch to manual scanning.
- Detect Mode:
- The scanner is in automatic scanning mode when it is on the charging dock.
- The scanner switches to manual scanning when it is taken off the charging dock.
- Stand Mode: The scanner stays in automatic scanning mode.
The solution to connection problems
If the scanning process is not smooth, please do the following:
1. Go to [Settings] and turn on Bluetooth (iOS) or [Settings] > [Network & Accessories] and turn on Bluetooth (Android).
2. Look for the paired "Socket xxx" and click the "i" icon or gear icon on the right.
3. Enter the next page and tap "Forget this device". Then power off the scanner.
4. Switch off and on the Bluetooth function of the tablet device and restart the scanner. Pair up the scanner with the tablet and check if it goes back to normal. If the problem still exists, restart the scanner again.
3. Reset the scanner
Step 1. Unpairing
- Press and hold Button 2 to power on the scanner.
- Press and hold Button 1, then press and hold Button 2 at the same time until you hear 3 beeps (escalating tone). Then release both buttons.
- Press and hold Button 2 to restart the scanner until you hear 2 beeps (low-high). Then start the reconnection.
Step 2. Reconnection

Press Button 1 until a red light flashes. Then scan Barcode 1. If a connection is made, you will hear 3 beeps (escalating).
Barcode 1: -
Press Button 1 until a red light flashes, then scan Barcode 2. Please be noted that when you scan Barcode 2, the red light will go off and no sound will be emitted. Please scan the barcode 3 times.
*This step is to scan the scanner to automatically fill in zeros when scanning barcodes, which conforms to the product barcode produced by the system.
Barcode 2:

Press Button 1 until a red light flashes, then scan Barcode 3. Three beeps (flat tone) will be emitted to indicate successful scanning.

Step 3. Complete connection with iPad
1. Turn on the iPad Bluetooth connection.
2. When you see a device named "Socket xxx [xxxx]", tap the name to connect to iPad.
3. After the connection, the status "Connected" will appear next to the device name. Then you can operate the scanner on the POS app.
