Create "App Member Referral Campaign" to encourage customers to refer your app to more new members. This feature not only helps expand your customer base but also increases conversion rates and sales.
⚠️ Before you start, please be reminded: Go to SHOPLINE Admin > [Customer Management] > [Store Credits]. Enable "Store Credits Toggle" so customers can receive / apply store credits.
This article will cover the following:
- Referring new member place order
- Referring new member sign up
- Manage member referral reward
- How customers use an invitation code link
1. Referring new member place order
When a referrer invites a friend to download the app and register as a new member, the new member completes their first order using the invitation code in the app. Once the order status changes to "Completed", the referrer will receive reward credits.
*Note: For the "Referring New Member Place Order" created before 12 July 2024, each time a referrer shares the campaign, the system will automatically add a new campaign in "Promotions & Reward". After 12 July 2024, the system will only add one campaign when the "Referring New Member Place Order" is successfully created.
Step 1
Go to SHOPLINE Admin > [Mobile App Management] > [App Member Referral Reward]. Click Add Campaign on the top right.
Step 2
Select "Referring New Member Place Order", and click Confirm to enter the campaign editing page.
Step 3
Set the following campaign details:
i. Basic Settings
Enter the campaign name. The campaign name here is only for internal management and will not be visible to customers.
ii. Set Valid Payment & Delivery Options
The system will automatically select all options by default, you can manually deselect any options that are not supported by the campaign.
iii. Coupon Code Usage Conditions
- Discount Type: Set the discount type as a percentage discount / fixed amount. Enter the discount percentage / discount amount.

Purchase Condition: Set the conditions for using the invitation code. If a minimum purchase amount is required, enter the specified amount.
- Usage Limitation: Set the maximum number of new members each referrer can invite.
iv. Coupon Code Applicable Products
Set the products that can be ordered using the invitation code.
If you want new members can only place orders for the specified products to receive rewards, choose "Select product(s)". Click Please select product(s) to search for and select products, then click Confirm.
v. Referral Reward
Set the store credit amount and validity period for the referrer’s reward. You can also select "Never Expires".
*Note: The new member must use the referrer's invitation code and complete the order within the app for the reward.
vi. Validity Period
Set the start and end times for the campaign, then click Confirm.
vii. Campaign Rules
Enter the campaign rules. English is required and you can choose to add either Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese.
*Note: The rules will be displayed in your app.
Step 4
View your progress in the preview section on the right.
Click Save to complete the setup.
2. Referring new member sign up
When a referrer invites a friend to download the app and register as a new member, and the new member successfully enters the invitation code, both of them will receive rewards.
Step 1
Go to SHOPLINE Admin > [Mobile App Management] > [App Member Referral Reward]. Click Add Campaign on the top right.
Step 2
Select "Referring New Member Sign Up", and click Confirm to enter the campaign editing page.
Step 3
Set the following campaign details:
i. Basic Settings
Enter the campaign name. The campaign name here is only for internal management and will not be visible to customers.
ii. Referral Code Usage Conditions
- Usage Limitation: Set the maximum number of new members each referrer can invite.
- Referral code expiration period: New members must enter the code within the specified timeframe to receive the reward.
iii. New Member Rewards
Set the store credit amount and validity period for the new member’s reward. You can also select "Never Expires".
iv. Referral Reward
Set the store credit amount and validity period for the referrer’s reward. You can also select "Never Expires".
v. Validity Period
Set the start and end times for the campaign, then click Confirm.
vi. Campaign Rules
Enter the campaign rules. English is required and you can choose to add either Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese.
*Note: The rules will be displayed in your app.
Step 4
View your progress in the preview section on the right.
Click Save to complete the setup.
3. Manage member referral reward
i. View campaign list
Go to [Mobile App Management] > [App Member Referral Campaign] to view all the referral campaigns. There are four types of referral promotion statuses:
- Scheduled: The campaign will automatically start at the scheduled time.
- Active: The campaign is currently active and has not yet ended.
- Expired: The campaign has ended.
- Inactive: The campaign is no longer active and will not be displayed to customers in the Shopper App.
ii. Reset campaign
Click on the campaign name to enter the editing page. After making changes, click the Save button at the bottom.
*Note: You can only edit the campaign name and rules.
If you need to reset the other details, you can choose to either:
- Copy the campaign, configure the copied one, and inactivate the original campaign
- Inactivate the campaign, and reset the new campaign
iii. View / export invitation record
Click the Invitation Record of the corresponding campaign. You can see the referral status of the current campaign.
Click the Export button on the top right to export the record.
4. How customers use an invitation code link
i. Referring new member place order
How referrers invite friends
Open the app and go to [Account] > [Member Referral] to access the campaign page. Click Invite Friends to select the sharing method and friends.
How New Members Accept Invitations
Click the link shared by the referrer. The app will automatically open and redirect to the campaign page. Click Claim Exclusive Coupon, complete the login or register process, and the coupon will be added to the member's account.
*Note: If the app is not yet downloaded, the system will redirect to the App Store / Google Play. After downloading and opening the app, it will automatically redirect to the campaign page.
ii. Referring new member sign up
How referrers invite friends
Open the app and go to [Account] > [Member Referral] to access the campaign page. Click Invite Friends Now to select the sharing method and friends.
How New Members Accept Invitations
Click the link shared by the referrer to enter the campaign page. Copy the invitation code and click Download Now, the app will open automatically. After registering, go to [Account] > [Fill in Referral Code], paste the code and click I want xx store credits.
*Note: If the app is not yet downloaded, the system will redirect to the App Store / Google Play. After downloading and opening the app, it will automatically redirect to the campaign page.
