Obtain Post Link for Facebook Group

This article explains how to obtain the link to a general post in a Facebook Group.

1. How to obtain a Facebook Group post link

Step 1

Go to Facebook Group and find the post you want to connect.

Step 2

Click on the post timestamp.

Step 3

You will be directed to the page details of the post. Then, copy the link to the page. 

The correct link should be started with "https://www.facebook.com/groups/".

2. How to obtain a post link for a group with a custom web address

If you have customized a group web address in Facebook > [Group settings] > [Customize group] (like the one below), please follow the steps to obtain the correct post link.

 

Step 1

Go to Facebook Group > [Overview] and copy the group ID from the URL.

The group ID is a string of numbers. For example:

  • Overview page URL: https://www.facebook.com/groups/123456789876543/overview
  • Group ID: 123456789876543

 

Step 2

Go to the Facebook Group and find the post you want to connect.

 

Step 3

Click on the post timestamp.

 

Step 4

Once directed to the post details page, replace the "custom web address" part of the post link with the "group ID" to copy the complete post link.

For example:

  • Custom group web address: https://www.facebook.com/groups/testpurpose
  • Original post link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/testpurpose/posts/1410069767174226/
  • Group ID: 123456789876543
  • Complete post link after replacement: https://www.facebook.com/groups/123456789876543/posts/1410069767174226/
