SHOPLINE LIVE: Facebook Messenger custom messages

With the new Custom Message feature, merchants can create customized welcome, product-recommendation and add-to-cart messages, and have them sent to every viewer that leaves a comment during a livestream.

Customized messages can help you boost sales and better interact with customers by instantly providing them with product-related information.

The following features are available for users that link to Facebook Live or use SHOPLINE Live but sync to Facebook Live. Custom messages will be sent to customers via Facebook Messenger.

 

This article will cover the setup for the following: 

 

1. Custom Messenger welcome messages 

To create a custom welcome message, in SHOPLINE Admin, go to [SHOPLINE Live] > [Create a live stream] > [Select Live Stream from Facebook] > [Enter the live stream channel]. 

*Note: If you are using SHOPLINE Live, you can only send a welcome message to your customers if you sync the livestream with Facebook. These messages will only be sent to those watching via Facebook Live. They will not be sent to those watching via SHOPLINE LIVE. 

After entering a livestream, click on [Custom Message] in the top left-hand side of the page. Toggle on [Messenger Welcome] and then enter the custom welcome message you would like to send to viewers.

After you are happy with the content of the message,  click on the disc icon at the bottom of the input box to save the message to your list of templates.

To use a saved template or select a template provided by SHOPLINE as the welcome message for a livestream, click on the speech bubble icon at the bottom of the input box and chose from the list.  You can also edit existing templates from this window.

Click [Save] to complete the process.

After the livestream has started, the system will automatically "like" any comment by a viewer and reply with: "Welcome to our live, please check Messenger message." Your custom welcome message will be sent via Messenger to the customer leaving the comment.e4.png

Notes:

  • Welcome messages must be less than 600 characters.
  • The welcome message feature is not mandatory and can be turned on or off at any point during a livestream. 
  • The system will send a welcome message in response to the first comment a viewer leaves. The welcome message will not be resent to the same customer if they leave another comment after this.   

 

2. Custom product-recommendation messages

In SHOPLINE Admin, go to  [SHOPLINE Live]. Either create new livestream by going to [Create a live stream] > [Live Stream from Facebook], or find a livestream you have already created and click on [Enter].

After entering a livestream, click on [Custom Message] in the top left-hand side of the page. Go to the [Product Recommendation Message] tab and then enter the custom message you would like to send to viewers.

Click on [Custom Message] in the top left-hand side of the page and then enter the custom message you would like to send to viewers.

Notes: 

  • Only the header and footer of the message can be edited. The product information included in the body of the message is fixed.
  • The header and footer can not be more than 85 characters each. 
  • If no custom message has been created, the system will send a preset template by default.  
  • Custom product-recommendation messages can only be edited before you start your livestream. They cannot be changed during a livestream or after a livestream has ended. 

 

3. Custom add-to-cart messages 

To create a custom add-to-cart message, in SHOPLINE Admin, go to  [SHOPLINE Live] > [Create a live stream] > [Select Live Stream from Facebook] > [Enter the live stream channel]. 

*Note: If you are using SHOPLINE Live, you can only send an add-to-cart message to your customers if you sync the livestream with Facebook.

These messages will only be sent to those watching via Facebook Live. They will not be sent to those watching via SHOPLINE LIVE. 

After entering a livestream, click on [Custom Message] in the top left-hand side of the page. Go to the [Add to Cart Message] tab and then enter the custom message you would like to send to viewers.
