2. Notes

i. The scenarios where you can exclude products from the promotion

1. Order-level Promotion condition (Total Order % Discount/ Total Order Discount Amount)
2. Unconditional Promotions + (Total Order % Discount/ Total Order Discount Amount)
3. Default Membership Discounts
4. Store Credit
5. Point redeem to cash

Example 1:

A new promotion in store: The store is having a "$50 off all orders over $500" promotion. However, product A is a new product under a specific discount. If you do not want the "$50 off all orders over $500" promotion to be applied to product A, switch on the toggle for "Not applicable to order-level discount" for product A.

For example:
If the shopping cart contains product A of $300, Product B of $200, the "$50 off all orders over $500" promotion will not apply to this shopping cart.

If the shopping cart contains product A of $300, product B of $200, and product C of $400, then the shopping cart will qualify for the promotion discount of "$50 off all orders over $500", so the $50
discount will be split between product B and product C.

Example 2:

A new promotion in store: The store is having a 20% off promotion, but because product A is already a select product for discount. If you do not want the 20% promotion to be applied to product A, set product A with "Not applicable to order-level discount".

For example:
If a shopping cart contains product A of $300, Product B of $200,
when applied with the 20% off order-level store promotion, the discount
will be $200 x 20%= $40

Example 3:

Merchants can create exclusive discounts for different membership tiers that will be applied once a member signs into their account. If a merchant holds an anniversary sale and wants to exclude this membership-specific discount, they will need to enable the "Not applicable to order-level discount"

Example 4:

Customers can apply store credit within the given criteria set by the store, if the merchant decides to exclude certain items from the store credit promotion (e.g.: special products, new products), simply enable "Not applicable to order-level discount".

For example: When the maximum discount is 10% of the order, if the
cart contains product A of $1000, product B of $500, the merchant
can enable "Not applicable to order-level discount" and maximum
discount for the cart will be $500 x 10% = $50.

*Note: If this feature is on, the 5 scenarios listed above will be excluded. That is, you cannot choose which promotion you want to be excluded from.

ii. Scenarios that cannot exclude products from the promotion

  1. Free Gift or Free Shipping + order-level promotions
  2. Free Gift or Free Shipping + unconditional promotions
  3. Selected product discount % or discount amount + order-level promotions
  4. Selected product discount % or discount amount + unconditional promotions
  5. Discount for selected items
  6. Discount for selected categories

Example 1:

New promotion in store: Free Shipping/ Free Gifts for all orders over $500. If the store is selling product A, then product A cannot be excluded from the promotion. That is, if the customer purchases product A, the Free Shipping/ Free Gifts promotion will be applied.

Example 2:

If the merchant has set a selected product/ selected category discount, and the selected product/ category includes product A, product A will not be excluded from the discount, and thus when a customer purchases product A, the selected product discount will be applied.

Note: It is recommended to turn on the feature "Show Promotion
information on product details page" so that customers can have
a better idea of what kind of promotions are available.
The display of promotion information on the product detail page
only reminds customers of the offers that can be applied to the
product but does not mean the offers that will be eventually
applied.
Customers have to check out the shopping cart to view the final
promotion applied. The product information page DOES NOT indicate
whether a promotion is applicable or not.

iii. Apply promotions to products "Not applicable to order-level discount" on the POS app

On the POS app, products that are set "Not applicable to order-level discount" will be excluded from POS promotions. However, customers can still apply credits, member point redeem to cash, and POS app custom discounts for these products.
