In addition to creating a livestream with SHOPLINE Live, merchants can enhance brand and product exposure by connecting to YouTube Live, providing customers with a comprehensive live shopping experience.
⚠️ Notes:
- This article will show you how to start a YouTube livestream. Please ensure you have completed the setup before starting the livestream.
- To ensure a successful live broadcast, it is recommended to read sections 1 and 2 of this article and then follow the steps in section 3 to create a test broadcast.

1. Enable live shopping on YouTube livestream
i. Livestream settings
Step 1
Go to YouTube and click Go live.
Step 2
Click the "Stream" icon and go to the "Stream settings" tab. Then, copy the stream key.
Step 3
Open the livestream app (i.e. PRISM Live App), and click Ready.
*Note: For more information on YouTube Live verified encoder, please refer to this article.
Step 4
Click Set destination.
Step 5
Select YouTube.
Step 6
Click + YouTube Custom RTMP.
Step 7
Paste the stream key copied in the first step and click Save.
Step 8
Click Go Live to proceed with the livestream. The app will sync the video stream to YouTube.
ii. Tag (select) products
If you have tagged (selected) a product before the livestream begins:
*Note: You can select live products during the livestream.
Viewers will be able to view the following products during the livestream.
Viewers can also click the Shop button to view all products.
iii. Pin product
If you have pinned a product from the YouTube livestream backstage:
*Note: You can only pin one product at a time.
Viewers can see the pinned product below the livestream feed.
2. End a livestream
Click the End button to end a livestream.
Click END STREAM on the YouTube livestream backstage.
3. Test livestream
Testing a livestream is highly recommended as it allows you to assess live feed quality, check your internet connection, and adjust the volume in advance. This step also helps you become familiar with the live interface, ensuring you can provide customers with the best live shopping experience.
In the livestream backstage, click the Edit button and set the visibility to "Private".
*Note: Only those with the livestream link can view and share the private livestream. Private livestreams will not be displayed in the "Live" tab on the YouTube channel and will not be searchable on YouTube. You can create a test broadcast at ease.
Once the livestream begins, click the "share" icon to share the livestream link.
You can use the link and view the livestream as a viewer. Check whether the live feed quality, volume, and product are displayed normally.
4. Enable live shopping on YouTube video
Step 1
Go to YouTube Studio.
*Note: If you want to promote products only on a specific video, please follow the instructions below to set up. Alternatively, if you want to promote products on all existing videos, please refer to Step 4; you don't need to disable the "Display products on channel" toggle.
Step 2
Go to [Earn] and select the "Shopping" tab.
Step 3
Disable the "Display products on channel" toggle, and click Turn off.
Step 4
Go to [Content] and hover the cursor on the video in which you want to tag a product. Then, click the "pencil" icon.
Step 5
On the bottom right, click Products.
Step 6
Tag the products. Tagged products will appear in the description section below the video.
*Notes:
- You can tag up to 60 products.
- If your channel is connected to multiple stores, you can select the store label at the top to quickly find products from the chosen store.
- You can also add a timestamp to arrange the product to appear at a specific time in the video.
Step 7
Upon completion, click Save.
Tagged products will appear in the description section below the video. If you customize the timestamp, the product will be displayed at the specified time frame.
