A.Set up sub categories
Step 1: Go to "Products and Categories" >> "Categories"
Step 2: Selecte category
Select the category to be subcategorized and press the arrow next to the selected category
Remarks
Since main category and sub category share a subordinate relationship, when there is a product added into sub-category, the product would be automatically assigned into the corresponding main-category as well
Take an example below:
Original Categories
A Category has product A + product B + product C
B Category has product D + product E + product F
Setting up the category hierarchy
Set A Category as main category
Set B Category as A's sub category
The order of products in both categories will be:
A (Main) category: product A + product B + product C + product D + product E + product F
B (Sub) category: product D + product E + product F
When unassign a sub-category, the products will be go back to the original order as below:
A Category has product A + product B + product C
B Category has product D + product E + product F
B.Bulk assign products to sub categories
Step 1: Bulk Actions
Go to "My Products" > Select products > "Bulk Actions" > "Assign to Categories"
Step 2: Select one (or more) sub-categories
Select one (or more) sub-categories, system will auto select the main categories
C.Bulk assign products to sub categories from product page
Apart from bulk assigning products from Categories page, you can also assign product in Product edit page
Step 1: "Products and Category" > "My Products" > "Edit" button > "Categories" tab
Step 2: Click "Update"
Select one (or more) sub-categories you would like to assign product to > Click "Update" when finished
Again, when you select a sub-category, the corresponding main-category will be selected automatically
D.Third layer categories
Merchant may use this feature when the storefront theme setting is Ultra Chic、Kingsman、Doris Bien、Bianco、Sangria、Skya、Varm、Philia、Dusk .
Please be reminded that switching into other themes other than Ultra Chic will hidden the layouts of the third layer categories in storefront.

While setting "Parenting" as first layer and "Diapers" as second layer, the third layer categories may have different layouts among different themes. We currently support the layout of third layer categories in theme Ultra Chic only. When switching the themes that are not supporting the third layer layouts, settings in admin panel will remain and be shown again while the theme switched to those are supported.
